Presented are three individual sounds which once flourished and now exist as fossil's, preserved by their individual embalming processes. The components convey sound's transient and ephemeral nature restrained and embodied within matter. An audible, intangible and fleeting phenomenon is transmuted into a mute and static tactile mass. From sounds objectification, its life becomes extended into a concrete form with potential to lengthen further. Each object remains in a transitory state where some are prone to regeneration and have designated journey’s which extend beyond the exhibition. The names of the individual specimens are of three philosophers whose doctrines inform each pieces afterlife.

Bhagavadpad

Environmental Sound (8m12s)
Rapid Prototype of a 3D Spectrogram

Bhagavadpad is to be submitted to the British Library Sound Archive and has a lingering state. Upon its rejection the object is bound to the cycle of birth, existence and death until acceptance i.e. repeatedly sonified and produced into a mass until the sound returns to its original form. Upon approval it becomes truly immortalised, elevated and emancipated from the cycle. It would remain protected and secure in a museum like environment, achieving a prolonged existence with status.

Gautam

94Hz Square Wave (1m12s)
Vero White Rapid Prototype of Wave Data

Gautam is also subject to regeneration and has been already been sonified and recorded for solidification. It remains in a state of constant regeneration until a descending object is able to create a satisfactory sound.

Brhaspati

94Hz Sine Wave (12m32s)
Glass, Iron Filings, Polyurethane Resin, Dymo Tape

This piece is placed in a materialist context and is heretical alongside the others. The origin was a product of matter which disseminated into other matter and intends to stay in a material state. Resurgence does not exist with this component i.e. the sound's death led to its liberation.
